This coffee comes from the Kayanza province in the northern part of Burundi close to the Rwanda border at an altitude of more than 1800 metres. It has a reputation of being one of the best coffee producing regions in Burundi and is also known for being the source of the Nile River.
The Cup: Due to Kayanza’s high altitude, the coffee that is grown here has a high level of acidity. It has good body with a long and very sweet aftertaste. Sweet caramelized sugar and toffee with citric acidity of grapefruit, mild floral flavours and a smooth mouthfeel.
